How long have you been working at ICS?

Since 1997 to 2003 and then again since 2017. Strolled back into ICS to visit previous employees and they WOULD NOT let me leave until I agreed to come back to work for them. Basically, they “woo-ed” me back into the ICS family as if I never left!!

How did you come to start working at ICS?

High School Work Program. I worked with ICS throughout my high school years and sometime into college until I moved away to attend Texas Tech. We still employ several students that started with our High School Work programs! I was nicknamed Young Grasshopper and still hear that occasionally.

What's your favorite thing about working here?

Teammates and Customers… Who wouldn’t want to work with our fantastic team and talk to Sheriff’s all day!!

Were you born in Waco?

El Paso, TX. Moved to Waco, TX in the 6th Grade

What do you do for fun in your free time?

Cycling with Peloton and/or Group of Friends. Currently training for my first event: Waco Wild West Bicycle Tour in October.

What's your dream vacation?

Anywhere I can put my toes in the sand. I’m always ready for the lake, river, beach or any island getaway!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

Become a Fashion Designer and Live in NYC

How long have you been working at ICS?

TOO DANG LONG!! J/K! 7 years this September. Are we close to retirement yet, or how does that work?

How did you come to start working at ICS?

Back when I was still in high school and needed money for “stuff”, my Mom forced me to work. Apparently, that was how life starts out when you get your driver’s license! Our Director is a family friend of my Mom, so when I was little kid, we cleaned her house for money. I think it was always a plan to groom me for working with her as I grew up and here I am, working for ICS and loving life. I have actually never worked for a company outside of ICS and plan to grow this gig into a career with this company! Besides, now I’m older and still need moneys, LOL!

What's your favorite thing about working here?

The comfortability and the coffee. We get free coffee all day long! It took me a while to train my fellow employees speaking is not allowed until after I’ve had coffee in the mornings. Oh, and the fabulous dress code. Seriously, we can wear shorts and flip-flops in the summer because we never see the public!

Were you born in Waco?

Born in good ole Bellmead, TX then ventured off to the big ole Mount Calm, TX. Graduated in a High School class of seventeen, true story! Now my husband and I live near Mount Calm in a remote area with even less people. Love the wide open spaces and plenty of room. e

What do you do for fun in your free time?

Practice Tarot Card reading. Gotta live up to the name of Glenda, The Good Witch, LOL.

What's your dream vacation?

One that’s 365 days long!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

Skydiving. I reckon jumping out of a perfectly good airplane suits me well. We shall see and I’ll fill you in with details if I come back alive!

Favorite childhood TV show? Word Girl, LOL! I’d wake up early every Saturday and Sunday morning to watch it by myself before my mean older brother would come in and change it… LOL! Loved the weekend mornings watching that show.
Favorite book or movie? Wizard of Oz hands down!! Glenda, The Good Witch, didn’t just come from nowhere ;) Just sayin'!
Favorite food? POTATOES. Any shape, any form. I will eat them. It is the earth’s most perfect food!

How long have you been working at ICS?

It’ll be 8 years in November.

How did you come to start working at ICS?

I was working at THAT coffee place and was VERY over it. So I went to the temp agency and they sent me to ICS for an interview. I had never heard of ICS, and had, honestly, never really thought about prisons needing supplies. I remember sitting down and asking, “So... What is it you do, exactly?” Here I am all these years later!

What's your favorite thing about working here?

It’s great to work for a company that encourages creativity and new ideas. Also, we laugh a lot. It’s always a great day at ICS!

Were you born in Waco?

I’m a Wacoan, born and raised. I’m also a boomerang kid. I’ve moved away from Waco, a few times but I always end up back here near my friends and family.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

I’m a big fan of the vidjya games. I also do freelance costume design (my major) and stay involved with local community theater.

What's your dream vacation?

I really want to hop in an RV and drive around the US for a month with my dachshund, Lucy... Drive through all the states, see all the landmarks... visit all the theme parks. That’s be really fun!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

I’ve never been to Antarctica.

Favorite childhood TV show? I’m old school, from a time when Saturday morning cartoons were a thing. GI Joe, He-Man, She-Ra, Ninja Turtles--I watched them all!
Favorite book or movie? We’re very fond of the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” around the office. But I’d have to say that the movie “Clue” from the 80’s is probably my favorite. It’s so good!

How long have you been working at ICS?

5 years in October, but seems like much, much longer! It is more like family than coworkers and I plan on sticking around with this bunch.

How did you come to start working at ICS?

I was lucky enough to find the job on Indeed. I was working in a local grocery store and I thought a change of pace would be great. From groceries over to jail supplies was a perfect fit for me.

What's your favorite thing about working here?

Definitely the people I work for and with. As a small family owned business everyone is very close here. I also LOVE my customers. There are several customers that I talk to at least weekly, just to talk about what has been going on for the week.

Were you born in Waco?

I was born in Waco, TX and have lived here my entire life. I have never wanted to move out of Waco… even with the Magnolia traffic that has begun over the past few years.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

I love spending time with my husband and 2 sons doing anything outside we can find to do. Of course, with a houseful of boys, football is a must. Any, and all, football is on and a family event. We even have our own family bets for wins! Chores are always a negotiation with the wins!! Our family NFL Draft will begin soon for this season. We are a very competitive family.

What's your dream vacation?

Bora Bora with the beautiful sand and clear water. My husband and I always say, when we win the lottery that will be our regular vacay spot!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

I would love to travel out of the country. I just recently flew for the first time, so there is definitely a list of places I need to visit now.

Favorite childhood TV show? I used to love watching TGIF (thank goodness it’s Friday) and my favorite show was Dinosaurs. I used to sit with my parents and siblings every Friday with our TV dinners and character TV trays. Friday has always been my favorite day!
Favorite book or movie? My favorite movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz. I’m not very good at sitting through movies or long enough to get through a book.
Favorite food? I could eat anything from the menu at Whataburger any time. This means I can never leave Texas unless Whataburger expands.

How long have you been working at ICS?

8 years in June! I came to apply at ICS with a bit of encouragement from a co-worker and my family. Previously, I was employed as a janitor at the YMCA with no experience in sales. I had no knowledge of sales, but I knew a lot about cleaning and cleaning products. Now years later, I’m still a clean freak and I can help you with hints in problem areas!

How did you come to start working at ICS?

I was visiting a friend in the hospital having her baby when an employee with ICS just so happened to be the sister-in-law to my friend, she asked if I was needing a new job and to go apply, and within a few short weeks, I was starting my first day.

What's your favorite thing about working here?

The people; everyone is like family.

Were you born in Waco?

I was born outside of Houston in Channelview; we moved to Gholson (a suburb of Waco) when I was 18 months old because my mother’s family lived here. Now the husband, kids and I still live near family in that same area.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

I enjoy anything outdoors; we are a family of racers whether it be dirt track cars, dirt bikes or go-karts. Seriously, even my 6-year old daughter has a go-cart! But when I’m stuck in the house, I like to put together puzzles and binge watch Netflix.

What's your dream vacation?

It would have to be The Grand Canyon; I would love to go hiking, camping, and kayaking through the canyons.

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

Scuba diving. Someday soon I hope!

Favorite childhood TV show? My favorite cartoon was Winnie the Pooh; me and my dad would watch it every Sunday after church; My favorite TV show would had to have been That 70’s Show.
Favorite book or movie? I can’t really choose a favorite book.. anything fantasy.. my favorite movie would be Across the Universe--it is a musical of Beatles music. My dad has taught me to truly appreciate all the music from the 60’s and 70’s and the Beatles are my favorite!

How long have you been working at ICS?

6 Years in December. Best. Job. Ever. I plan to stay here 50 years and maybe I will be running this place by then!

How did you come to start working at ICS?

I did not even know about ICS. I had listed my resume’ online and out of the blue, ICS called me for an interview. Little did they know that I would be a 4 foot 11 inch Super Star!

What's your favorite thing about working here?

Customers and the Work Environment. I love that so many of my customers know me as “Shorty, the Go-To Girl” for jail supplies.

Were you born in Waco?

Born at Hillcrest Hospital and lived here all my life. It was a sad day when Hillcrest was just recently torn down, but part of it remains active as the new home for Waco Police Department HQ.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

Family time/travel

What's your dream vacation?

I LOVE the ocean!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

Swim with dolphins! They would be much bigger than me, but should be able to carry me along quite well! Flipper… Where are you??

Favorite childhood TV show? Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. As a child, I did not watch too much tv. I stayed out until the street lights came on. Back in my day, we were out of the house every chance we got!! I still trying to teach my girls the same!

How long have you been working at ICS?

I started ICS in October 2019. I actually applied several times, but finally snagged an interview and won them over with my sparkling personality! Now I’m never leaving! Hahaha!

How did you come to start working at ICS?

I was encouraged to apply by my fellow Marketing Director Jason, we worked together at Starbucks previously. I figured ICS needed someone that could make a fabulous latte for management and they agreed! .

What's your favorite thing about working here?

love the environment and the customers! I never imagined Jail Supplies could be so interesting. And the customers are a hoot! Love them all and they make my experience here so enjoyable.

Were you born in Waco?

I was born in Corpus Christi, but moved here at the age of 5 due to my mom finding a job here. Waco is a perfect fit for me and I love this city!

What do you do for fun in your free time?

I enjoy family time and watching movies. Family time also involves cooking together and lucky for me, my daughter is turning into a GREAT chef! She gets it from her momma!!

What's your dream vacation?

I would love to go on a Caribbean Cruise. That would be the perfect vacation in my opinion. Of course, all-inclusive on the drinks too!

What's something you haven't done, but want to?

I would love to travel outside of Texas and go sightseeing. I have never been outside of the Good Ol’ state of Texas.

Favorite childhood TV show? My favorite cartoon is Scooby Doo. Isn’t that everyone’s favorite?? Can we all just have that super cool van to drive around in and solve crime every day??
Favorite book or movie? My all-time favorite movie is a Disney Movie and it’s Mulan. Both my daughter and son would watch it every weekend and sing along with all the songs with me! Yes I think I can sing like Mariah Carey!!
Favorite food? Fruit and any kind of fruit! Soon the Texas peaches and watermelons will be available on the street corners or at our local Fruiteria. You can almost bet that I will waiting in line for those as well!
